Abstract:

The dataset contains the oiled marsh soil erosional resistance or critical shear stress obtained via both direct field measurements and laboratory testing of undisturbed tube samples taken from the same site/area. A Cohesive Strength Meter was used in the field measurements and laboratory testing to obtain the data.

Purpose:

The dataset was obtained or developed for the purpose of investigating and understanding the effects of the oil spill, particularly the light oil that has transported to the coastal wetlands, on the erosional resistance of coastal marsh soils along the Northern Gulf Coast. An additional intention was also to examine the temporal variations of the influence of oil spill on wetland erosion.
