Abstract:

This dataset contains copy numbers of various oil-degrading genes in coastal salt marshes in northern Barataria Bay from 2011 to 2012.

Purpose:

This study was to determine the responses of oil-degrading bacteria to the Deep Water Horizon (DWH) oil spill in lightly oiled plots and heavily oiled plots in coastal salt marshes in northern Barataria Bay.

Data Parameters and Units:

Copy numbers of alkB, GN PAH-RHD, GP PAH-RHD, and 16S rRNA genes, ratios of alkB/16S rRNA, GN PAH-RHD/16S rRNA, and GP PAH-RHD/16S rRNA, and TPH concentrations (mg/kg).
