Purpose:

To check the heavy oil content in the Gulf sediments Gulf shores from Texas to Florida

Data Parameters and Units:

The content of the heavy oil residue is given in ppm with respect to air-dry sediment samples. Label, event, station ID, latitude (decimal degrees, North), longitude (decimal degrees, West), Rt (retention time, minutes), ASPH (pyrolyzate of aphaltene fraction crude oil), ***-nor (normalized chromatograms), BP oil tarball pyrolyzates (TBJ6, TBJ2, F3D, TBJ4), Labels Y01 to Y78 (sediment samples), ASPH/RT (retention times of unsaturated/saturated C11-C20 peaks for ASPH fraction, minutes), SAT (area under saturated hydrocarbon peaks, C11-C20), US (area under undersaturated hydrocarbon peaks, C11-C20)

Methods:

Pyrolyzis of air-dry sediment followed by gas chromatoraphy-mass spectrometry (GCMS) analysis using selected saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons.
