Abstract:

Data for oil for marsh surface samples (0-5 cm). Data for shoreline erosion may be found in the dataset: Bathymetry data of Barataria Bay and northern Gulf Mexico NOAA national geophysical data center (ngdc) https://data.gulfresearchinitiative.org/data/R1.x139.143:0008/). This dataset captures the distribution of oil and serves as a post-spill inventory of oil at sites that would continue to be monitored over the next several years. Oil data will be matched with other samplings to learn about how the oil affected the marsh.

Purpose:

To capture the distribution of oil and to serve as post-spill inventory of oil at sites we would return to as monitoring proceeded over the next several years; to match oil data with other sampling (from other funding sources) as a way of learning about how the oil did or did not affect the marsh.

Data Parameters and Units:

Meters into the marsh (meters), Latitude (decimal degrees), Longitude (decimal degrees), site id, aromatics / alkanes [Decane, Pristane, Phytane, Cosanes, Contane, TotalAlkanes, Naphthalene, Fluorene, Dibenzothiophene, Phenanthrene, Anthracene, Pyrene, Naphthobenzothiophene. Benzoanthracene, Chrysene, TotalAromatics]. Alkanes measured in micrograms per gram and aromatics measured in nanograms per gram.
