Abstract:

This dataset contains water temperature, salinity, oxygen, and other parameters collected by CTD from research vessel Pelican in Gulf of Mexico from 2021-05-12 to 2021-05-18 (cruise PE21-20, cruise DOI https://doi.org/10.7284/909368). Hydrographic data were collected on the recovery cruise of an array of moored instrumentation. These data were collected to calibrate the travel time measurements of the moored current- and pressure-recording inverted echo sounders. The data are in NetCDF format. Associated mooring data are available in datasets U1.x852.000:0003 (DOI:10.7266/K4ZF1T9Z; currents), U1.x852.000:0004 (DOI:10.7266/BZ9B3C54; pressure and temperature), U1.x852.000:0005 (DOI:10.7266/4B13NKBA; vertical acoustic travel time), and U1.x852.000:0007 (DOI:10.7266/GE30701Z; estimates of vertical profiles of temperature, salinity, and geopotential anomaly). CTD data collected during mooring deployment and servicing is available in datasets U1.x852.000:0002 (DOI:10.7266/9BJWE9SM) and U1.x852.000:0001 (DOI:10.7266/ZSW7FB3E).

Purpose:

Hydrographic data were collected on the recovery cruise of an array of moored instrumentation. These data were collected to calibrate the travel time measurements of the moored current- and pressure-recording inverted echo sounders.

Data Parameters and Units:

Time relative to 00:00:00 ZZ1 January 2019 (UTC, [days]), latitude [decimal degrees], longitude [decimal degrees], hydrostatic pressure [dbar], water temperature [degrees Celsius], conductivity [microsiemens/cm], salinity [psu], and oxygen [mg/l].

Methods:

CTD data were acquired with a Sea-Bird Scientific SBE 911 CTD instrument package. Data were processed with Sea-Bird Scientific's software Version Seasave V 7.26.7.107. Data were bin averaged in 2 dbar bins.

Instruments:

The Sea-Bird Scientific SBE 911 is a combination of the SBE 9 Underwater Unit and SBE 11 Deck Unit. The SBE 9 uses Sea-Bird's standard modular temperature and conductivity sensors (SBE 3 and SBE 4). This SBE 9 CTD was also configured with an auxiliary sensor to measure dissolved oxygen.
