Abstract:

These data are bi-allelic genotypes of eastern oysters (Crassostrea virginica) collected along the coastline in each of the major bay areas in Texas. The genotypes were generated via polymerase chain reaction (PCR) of known microsatellite regions in the eastern oyster genome.

Purpose:

The dataset was developed in order to examine fine-scale landscape genetics of eastern oysters in Texas, and to describe the genetic features of a known area of secondary contact between divergent oyster populations.

Data Parameters and Units:

Each data point represents an allele, which is half of a genetic profile for a single oyster at a single genetic locus (full genotypes are made up of paired alleles). There are no units to the data, although the allele name is directly related to the size of the PCR amplicon (larger numbers represent larger molecular products from PCR) Note: Cells which are empty in the genotypic data mean that data point is missing or not available
