Abstract:

The current study developed and implemented a mindfulness intervention to improve well-being and safety outcomes for offshore workers in the Gulf of Mexico. The intervention included the attentional aspect of mindfulness. We investigated the effects of increased mindfulness practice (duration and frequency), as well as the effects of increased mindfulness practice over time and among individuals with positive and less positive outlooks towards the intervention. The study recorded the experience of offshore workers (N=64) for a period of 28 days (Employee survey data and ESM (Experience Sampling Method) data).
