Abstract:
This data is public and collected as part of a sampling program initiated through the Florida Department of Health to evaluate contamination at parks and playgrounds. The PIs for this project, Drs. Solo-Gabriele and Ferguson, worked together on this project given their history of submitting collaborative proposals to GoMRI. They worked on this project to refine the risk assessment approach and to develop data sharing protocols. They essentially embarked on this to help them with GoMRI proposals and anticipated research funding in the area of health risks from oil spills. This submission to GRIIDC will help them develop the protocols for data management and inclusion in GRIIDC.
The data submitted corresponds to soil arsenic concentrations at two baseball fields in Miami-Dade County known to contain elevated levels of arsenic. These fields are Chapman and Colonial Fields. The data consists of sample collection date, GPS coordinates, depth of sample, and arsenic concentration (mg/kg).
