Abstract:

This dataset contains concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in surface water of Galveston Bay collected aboard the R/V Trident cruises following the Hurricane Harvey from 2017-09-04 to 2017-09-28. About 1.5 liters of surface water was collected each from 10 stations (H1-H10) in Galveston Bay during the 5 sampling R/V Trident cruises (T1-T5). Water samples were extracted for PAH using dichloromethane. Extracts were concentrated. PAHs were then analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The dataset contains the location, date and concentrations of PAHs. The cruise documentation was provided for the R/V Trident cruise, led by chief scientist Dr. Jamie Steichen.

Purpose:

To determine the concentrations and distributions of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) after the flooding due to Hurricane Harvey.

Data Parameters and Units:

Concentration ng/L (ng PAH compound per liter of water sample), Date (MM/DD/YYYY), Station (H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6, H7, H8, H9, H10), R/V Trident cruises (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5), Latitude and Longitude (decimal degrees). Sampling time: T1-Sept 4; T2-Sept 9; T3-Sept 16; T4-Sept 21; T5-Sept 28, 2017.

Methods:
