Abstract:

A Bottle experiment will be carried out to monitor microbial isolate gene expression during oil biodegradation and oxidation when exposed to oil slicks vs truly dissolved oil. DNA will be extracted from filtered water samples and qPCR will be used to quantify genes related to oil degradation and/or EPS production.
