Abstract:

Microcosm experiments were performed to examine the bacterioplankton community structure after growth of Water Accommodated Fractions (WAFs) made from seven different crude oils. Each WAF was produced under different solar exposures and added to replicate 1-liter microcosms at a final concentration of 4%. Changes in bacterial community structure were determined by Illumina sequencing of 16S rDNA amplicons in samples collected after 30 and 48 hours of growth.

Purpose:

To determine whether different bacterial communities developed from different crude oils after exposure to various light regimes.

Data Parameters and Units:

Dataset consists of 2 text files “BioSampleObjects” and “Objects” and Word document describing the 7 different types of Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF). The text file “BioSampleObjects” contains the biosample accession numbers of various sequences obtained from microcosm experiments where bacterioplankton were exposed to 7 different types of WAF. The text file “Objects” contains links to corresponding URLs of each biosample accession number. The headers are-Accession, Sample Name, SPUID, Organism, Tax ID, BioProjectObject IDs and corresponding URLs.
