Abstract:

This dataset explores the effects of oil exposure on zebrafish (Danio rerio) personality or individual repeatable behaviors. Individual fish were repeatedly tested for boldness, sociability, exploration, activity, and aggression. Fish with a well-established behavioral type were exposed to oil to observe changes in behavior.

Purpose:

Investigate the impacts of oil exposure fish behavioral syndromes.

Data Parameters and Units:

Dataset consists of text, Excel, video and a readme word doc. The Readme doc contains the headers and units. The headers are- FISH ID, SEX, MASS (g), SL (cm), TL (cm), TEST, Avg. velocity, Avg. Acceleration, Avg. DeAcceleration, Time spend Zone A, Time spend Zone B, Time spend Zone C, Active time [s], Active time [%], InActive time [s], InActive time [%], Distance moved, Number of visits_A, F or M Mass (g), TL (cm), SL (cm), Exposure, and Exposure Date. Temperature - C, Salinity - ppt, Mass - g, Length - cm, Volume - ml or L, Time - HH:MM, Date - MM/DD/YY

Methods:

Zebrafish (Danio rerio) were tagged with Elastomer tags 5 days prior to exposure. Individual fish were exposed to either control or two oil doses and placed into an arena for an open field test, and then a sociability and novel object test.

Error Analysis:

All endpoints were analyzed with a Principal Component Analysis and Two-Way ANOVA.
