Abstract:

High speed video data of marine copepod (Acartia tonsa) escape behavior following exposure to varying concentrations of crude oil and Corexit dispersant, collected in 2014 and 2018.

Purpose:

To investigate the effects of exposure to oil and dispersant on copepod escape reactions.

Methods:

Acartia tonsa species of marine copepods were exposed for 24 h to 0, 1, 5, or 10 µl/l crude oil with or without Corexit dispersant at 20:1 oil:dispersant. Videos were recorded of escape responses of copepods when encountering a hydrodyanamic disturbance from a cylinder in a racetrack flume.
