Abstract:

Laboratory toxicity tests were completed with each species using passively dosed MC252 oil for 48 hours. Species exposed were Americamysis bahia, Lysmata boggessi, Janicella spinacauda, and Euphausiidae. Percent mortality at each exposure level was used to determine threshold concentrations via generalized linear modeling.

Purpose:

The purpose of this dataset is to determine the threshold concentration of MC252 oil that results in 50% mortality in deep-sea crustaceans. This information was used to assess the accuracy of the PETROTOX model prediction.

Target Loading= target nominal concentrations in micrograms per liter; ppb., Chamber= the chamber number, N= number of organisms in the chamber, number of organisms recorded at each time point are the number of dead organisms, Sample times: 0, 24, and 48 hours of exposure, Values listed under sample times are actual measured concentrations in micrograms per liter. This is determined from Estimated Oil Equivalents (EOE) (a measure of all components containing double bonds)., Geo mean= the geometric mean concentration of EOE in each chamber across all three time points in micrograms per liter, Temperature in degrees C, Salinity in psu
