Abstract:

This data contains simulated observations of the population abundance (numbers) and catch (in numbers) by each fleet described by the annual age of the fish. This dataset is one of a suite of eight for which statistical methods and machine learning algorithms were used to simulate various measures of fish population health, including abundance surveys, mortality estimates, and fisheries catch and effort reports. Purpose:

To conduct fisheries simulation observations of fish abundance and catch.

Data Parameters and Units:

The zipped file contains eight text files, one for each fish species modeled. They are labeled as "NandCatAgeXX.txt", where the XX represents a two letter code indicating each species as follows: GG=gag grouper, GT=gray triggerfish, MS=mutton snapper, RG=red grouper, RS=red snapper, TF=tilefish, VS=vermilion snapper, YG=yellowedge grouper. The headers in each file are as follows: TimeStep = the day of the simulation. Integer value where zero represents the first simulated day. One year equals 365 days and day zero accounts for January first. Age = the integer age group represented XXabundance = abundance of species XX, in numbers of fish, where XX represents the two letter species code as indicated above XXcatch_HL = catch of species XX in numbers of fish, where XX represents the two letter species code as indicated above, and HL represents handline fishing gear XXcatch_LL = catch of species XX in numbers of fish, where XX represents the two letter species code as indicated above, and LL represents longline fishing gear
