Abstract:
The data involves chiefly, the use of halloysite clay nanotubes (HNT) in forming Pickering emulsions with oil and water. The halloysites were functionalised using octadecyltrimethoxysilane (ODTMS) and hexadimethylsilane (HMDS) in order to hydrophobize the halloysite and form better Pickering emulsions. The bacterial affinity of halloysites in general and modified halloysite was tested using the bacterial strain, Alcanivorax borkumensis. The bacteria was obtained from ATCC and was used in several toxicity and emulsion experiments. The onus of the study was to study the affinity of the oil-degrading bacteria to HNTs and hydrophobized HNT and the resultant toxicity.
