Abstract:

The dataset consists of a) TIFF images of bacteria suspended in seawater at various concentration of surfactants; b) surface tension of seawater at different concentration of surfactant; and c) optical densities of cell suspension at different surfactant concentrations. This project investigated the effect of dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate (DOSS) concentration in an aggregation of non-motile Marinobacter. This is done by comparing the optical densities of suspension and validated the result using the fluorescence microscope.

Purpose:

This project investigated the effect of surfactant in the aggregation of bacteria in seawater.

Methods:

Presence of aggregates was measured by means of comparing the optical density of suspensions. Size distribution and the number density of aggregates were measured using fluorescence microscopy (Leica DMI4000) and analyzed using ImageJ software.
