Abstract:

4.2K fluorescence spectra were generated for the synthetic mixture of high molecular weight – polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HMW-PAHs) in Shpol'skii solvents. These spectra were compared against known standards for the four compounds of interest (Benzo[b]perylene, Naphtho[1,2-k]Fluoranthene, Naphtho[2,3-k]Fluoranthene, Dibenzo[a,h] Pyrene) to determine the ability of the laser-excited time-resolved Shpol'skii spectroscopy (LETRSS) technique to distinguish individual compounds in the presence of addition concomitants.

The following abbreviations were used in the file names BbPer - Benzo[b]Perylene N12kF - Naphtho[1,2-k]Fluoranthene N23kF - Naphtho[2,3-k]Fluoranthene DBahP - Dibenzo[a,h]Pyrene Naming convention for the mixture files is as follows 1 BbPer 5 N12kF for BbPer emission This name indicates that this data is for a mixture containing 1 part BbPer and 5 parts N12kF, where the emission of BbPer in the mixture is recorded.

Instruments:

Spectra were recorded with the aid of a Fluoromax-P spectrofluorimeter (Horiba Jobin Yvon).
