Abstract:

The dataset contains the density of 2 different marsh species (fiddler crab and periwinkle snail) from 21 stations spread throughout Barataria Bay, Louisiana from May 2018 through May 2019. These stations were exposed to varying levels (none, moderate, high) of oiling during the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. Similar data from different years can be found under GRIIDC Unique Dataset Identifiers (UDIs) R2.x211.000:0002 (2012-2014), R5.x282.000:0003 (2014-2016), and R5.x282.000:0012 (2017).

Purpose:

To present density data from Barataria Bay of two marsh invertebrates, periwinkle snails and fiddler crabs, from varying degrees of oiling.

The file "LSU sampling stations Coordinates_New HV Points Included.xlsx": LSU Station Number (RF1-RF7; MD1-MD7, HV1-HV10); Station Latitude and Longitude (Decimal Degrees). Note: Blank cells indicate that the replicate and treatment were not sampled at that time point. Some of the sampling events don’t have abundance data for the fiddler crab burrows, as when in the field for the sampling event the water was high on the marsh surface and burrows were not available for sampling.
