Abstract:

This dataset contains physical measurements from stakes placed in the back marsh of each of the 21 sampling sites to the leading marsh scarp. These measurements are designed to calculate erosion rates across the different sampling sites within the project. The dataset contains the distance measurements to wrack and scarp from May 2015 to May 2018.

Purpose:

This dataset provides erosion information for various locations throughout Barataria Bay over the span of 3 years.

Data Parameters and Units:

Station name, distance to wrack (ft), distance to scarp (ft). Measurements of distance were taken during May 28, 2015, October 29, 2015, June 2, 2016, October 25, 2016, May 25, 2017, October 27, 2017, and May 10, 2018. So, they were moved to new locations and re-established beginning in October 2017. That is why in October 2017 the label mentions a “new stake”. These stations should not be examined from 2015-2018 since they were moved in the middle of this period; rather, they show two distinct periods at two distinct locations. Cell F16 should say “no data” because the back stake for erosion measurement was lost for that period. The first value in cells H22-H24 is the distance, and the values in cells H29-H31 can be ignored.
