Abstract:

Trajectories from METOCEAN drifters (I-SPHERE and I-CODE) were tracked in real-time using GPS units, launched near the Taylor Energy site just offshore of the Mississippi Delta on April 18 (I-SPHERE) and April 23 (I-CODE), 2017 as a collaboration of two GoMRI projects: “Influence of river induced fronts on hydrocarbon transport” and “CARTHE”. Drifter positions are provided starting from launching time to Apr 26 for I-SPHERE and to May 10 for I-CODE. Purpose:

Launching drifters near the Taylor Energy site was a part of a multi-platform observational experiment conducted in April-June 2017 to investigate the main hydrocarbon pathways from the Taylor Site toward the northern Gulf of Mexico continental shelves and offshore, toward the Gulf interior.
