Main parameters: Site (sample collection site), Date collected (Date of sample collection; MM/DD/YYYY), Latitude (decimal degrees), Longitude (decimal degrees), Alkanes and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (Parts per billion, ppb). Please note ND = Non-detect and MDL= Below method detection limit.
Methods:
Total Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) content in sediments in East Louisiana where oil made landfall was measured using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) using the SIM acquisition mode. This method targeted 28 alkanes and 18 parent aromatic hydrocarbons based on EPA SW-846 methods (2000). PAH measurements were conducted at the Department of Environmental Sciences by Scott Miles. A detailed description of the extraction and analysis of PAHs can be found in a previous publication of Scott Miles (Turner et al., 2014).
