Abstract:
We present a numerical model designed to track the fate and transport of hydrocarbons released into the deep ocean. The model incorporates the thermodynamic, chemical, and hydrodynamic properties of complex hydrocarbon mixtures in seawater, using validated parameters to ensure accuracy. It accounts for the fate and transport of hydrocarbon gases, including the effects of hydrate formation in the deep ocean environment. The model has been validated and calibrated using data from various studies (e.g., Rehder et al., 2009; McGinnis et al., 2006; Römer et al., 2012; Bozzano & Dente, 2014). The dataset includes raw data used for the validation and calibration processes, along with the code and simulation results generated by the model.
