Abstract:

The dataset contains droplet size measurements from autoclave jet experiments with n-decane and methane-saturated n-decane, at 150 bar ambient pressure at 20° C and with elevated oil reservoir pressure. The dataset includes two tables: particle size distributions (PSD) of (1) n-decane and (2) methane-saturated n-decane jets entering into seawater at elevated ambient pressure. The n-decane is over 99% pure, provided by Carl Roth GmbH. For this experiment, the oil pressure was 160 +/- 1 bar and the oil volume flow is 0.95 - 1.14 l/min. This dataset is related to R4.x267.000:0048.

Data generated to quantify the effect of hydrostatic pressure, pressure gradients and dissolved methane on oil droplet size distributions in a sub-sea oil blowout.
