Purpose:

Controlled oil exposure study to evaluate the effects of crude oil on lipid structure in the whole body of fish.

Lipid Weight worksheet: Liver and Whole Body: g/10mL and % Lipid. TLC Liver Results and Whole Body Results worksheet: Day, Tank, Rep, MML #, % Wax esters & Sterol Esters, % Triglycerides, % Free Fatty Acids, % Cholesterol, % Phospholipids & Polar Lipids, % Total Lipid. For liver results: Dilutions indicated by d# (i.e d2=2x, d5=5x, d10=10x, d50=50x).

Methods:

Tissue samples were extracted via EPA method 3545 using a Dionex ASE300, then concentrated to 10 mL in DCM for analysis. Lipid Composition: 1 uL of sample analyzed with Iatroscan using PeakSimple 444 software.

Error Analysis:

QA measures were included per batch according to Environmental Laboratory for Forensics Quality Assurance Plan. If QA measurements were not met, samples were re-analyzed or data was qualified.
