Abstract:

Dataset contains measurements of the interfacial tension (IFT) between artificial seawater and methane. Measurements included are averages from three data points. Related density data can be found in GRIIDC dataset R4.x267.000:0011.

Purpose:

The experiments have been done to get information about the interaction of seawater and methane as function of pressure and temperature. The interfacial tension is an important physical parameter to know as it is required for several theoretical determinations, simulations and the comparison of experimental data, e.g. rise velocities, with theory.

Measurement of interfacial tension (average of 3 replicates) between artificial seawater and methane (mN m-1), Temperature (4 °C, 20 °C, 35 °C), and Pressure (0 to 150 bar), Standard deviation (sdv)

Methods:

Pendant drop method Artificial seawater was prepared via the recipe of D.R. Kester et. al. 1967.
