Abstract:
STRONGIII re-contacted respondents from the STRONG survey conducted by RAND and the Public Policy Research Lab at Louisiana State University in 2016 (STRONG I). For STRONG I, data were collected by telephone from a randomly selected, representative
group of adult residents of 56 counties located in coastal areas along the Gulf of Mexico, including 16 Texas counties, 12 Louisiana parishes, 3 Mississippi counties, 2 Alabama counties, and 23 Florida Counties. STRONG II, also a recontact from STRONG I, took place in 2019.
STRONGIII used three modes of data collection: online, mail, and phone. There were 599 completed surveys in total. The survey evaluates Gulf residents' past and current living conditions, satisfaction with their neighborhood, social cohesion, neighborhood safety, neighborhood walkability, home environment, COVID-19 experiences and risks, COVID-19 disruptions to routine behaviors, COVID-19 service impacts, COVID-19 employment impacts, social resources, storm experiences, physical and mental health, alcohol consumption, healthcare access, trauma experiences, food security, perceived political efficacy, and sociodemographics.
