Abstract:

Data spanning the major results from large eddy simulations of a wind and wave-driven shallow coastal region are presented.

Purpose:

In the simulations, full-depth Langmuir circulation is generated via the inclusion of the Craik-Leibovich vortex force and either surface heating or surface cooling is applied to investigate the effects of these fluxes on the Langmuir cells (i.e. the structure of the cells and the turbulence).

Data Parameters and Units:

Data provided are dimensionless. The data has been non-dimensionalized using wind stress friction velocity and water column half-depth. Dataset includes: vorticity, surface cooling flux, surface heating flux, mean velocity, temperature flux, Reynolds shear stress, and turbulent kinetic energy.
