Abstract:

A free-running version of ROMS, the Regional Ocean Modelling System, is implemented for a domain in the Gulf of Mexico. This 1.5km solution is used for nesting into finer grids.

Purpose:

This solution is used to study submesoscale-currents in the Northern Gulf of Mexico. Because higher resolution is needed to study submesoscale currents, this solution provides a stepping-stone towards finer nests.
