Abstract:

Physical data were collected on a monthly basis on the day of sediment collection. This data was used in conjunction with sediment experiments to better understand the nitrogen cycling processes in oiled marsh sediments.

Purpose:

The purpose of this data set was to examine physical factors from the field site on the days when sediment was collected.

Data Parameters and Units:

Date: month, day and year, Location: Surface water at Location A field site, time: central standard time for hours and minutes, temperature: measured in Celsius (C), salinity: measured in psu, Dissolved oxygen: measured in milligrams per liter (mg L-1), conductivity: measured in milli-Siemens per centimeter (mS cm1), total dissolved solids: measured in milligrams per liter (mg L-1), pH: measured in unitless, latitude: measured in degrees minutes and seconds, longitude: measured in degrees minutes and seconds.

Methods:

Physical data was collected with a YSI 565 on the day of sampling. The YSI probe was lowered into the water to approximately 1m below surface level and readings were recorded after a 1 minute period.
