Abstract:

Water column nutrients were measured during a project to investigate sediment denitrification and nitrogen cycling processes. Water samples were filtered through GF/F filters in the field and stored on ice in the dark prior to being frozen at -20 0C within 8 hrs of collection. Data were collected seasonally from July 2015 to February 2016.

Purpose:

The purpose of this study was to investigate the denitrification rates in marsh and subtidal habitats that were previous exposed to moderately oiled sediments.

Instruments:

Water column nutrients concentrations were measured on the Skalar San+ autoanalyzer. Dissovled organic carbon was analyzed on a Shimadzu TOC analyzer. Chlorophyll concentrations were determined fluorometerically (Turner Design) after extraction overnight at 4oC in 90% acetone.
