Abstract:
A Seaglider was deployed to collect oceanographic (temperature, conductivity, and pressure at a 4s rate) and acoustic data in the area surrounding three mooring sites. As part of the LADC-GEMM 2017 Gulf of Mexico experiment (R/V Pelican cruise PE17-23), the Seaglider collected data from 2017-06-09 to 2017-07-19. Several associated datasets are available at GRIIDC under different Unique Dataset Identifiers (UDIs): expendable bathythermograph (XBT) measurements (R4.x261.000:0006, doi:10.7266/N78K77F4), acoustic detections of cetaceans from bottom-moored Environmental Acoustic Recording System (EARS) buoys (R4.x261.000:0007, doi:10.7266/N76M34VG), CTD data (R4.x261.231:0006, doi:10.7266/N7MW2FHT), underway data (R4.x261.000:0031, doi:10.7266/n7-f8yc-h222; R4.x261.000:0030, doi:10.7266/n7-dbkx-vk59; R4.x261.000:0029, doi:10.7266/n7-fjhy-6w15), ADCP/CTD data (R4.x261.000:0028, doi:10.7266/N7251GS7), and surface passive acoustic data (R4.x267.233:0002, doi:10.7266/N7154FDQ; R4.x261.233:0001, doi:10.7266/N7222RSW).

Cruise Information: R/V Pelican PE17-23; Chief Scientist: Natalia Sidorovskaia
Methods:
Acoustic data was collected when the glider was below 25 meters, on a duty cycle at a 125 kHz sampling rate, 16-bit, using a proprietary recording system called WISPR (Wideband Intelligent Signal Processor and Recorder; OSU/UW). GPS and CTD data were collected concurrently.
Instruments:
SeaGlider (Kongsberg, Inc.; OSU glider SG607)
