Abstract:

Tarballs were collected from Mustang and Galveston Islands to determine the alkane, PAH, and alkylated PAHs composition. Extracted hydrocarbons were analyzed using GC-MS.

Purpose:

The tarballs were collected following the Texas City "Y" Oil Spill in 2014 to determine how the alkane and PAH composition have changed through time and space.

Alkane and PAHs data are in mg/g of total solvent extracatable material (TSEM) Alkane and PAHs composition and concentration of tarballs collected from Galveston(GV) and Mustang Island (MT)

Methods:

Samples GV1, GV2, and GV3 collected March 28, 2014 within a 3 mile distance from Galveston Samples MT1, MT2, and MT3 collected April 2, 2014 within a 3 mile distance from Port Aransas downtown
