Abstract:

This dataset contains field collection and genetic data for 529 Callinectes sapidus (blue crab) samples collected from costal Texas and Louisiana from 2009 to 2011. The data for 6 individuals collected in Zulia, Venezuela in 2000 and 2001 are also provided. Field collection data include month, year, latitude and longitude where samples were collected. Blue crab life stage and sex are reported, if known. The genetic haplotypes for the following nuclear protein-coding genes are reported for each individual: ATP/ADP translocase, ATP-synthase subunit 9, trehalose 6-phosphate synthase, heat shock protein, and ribosomal protein L12. NCBI GenBank Accession numbers are provided for each haplotype. This data is also submitted to GRIIDC under RFP II R2.x214.000:0001.

This dataset was collected to evaluate the effects of oil spills on population connectivity and adaptation, and to predict the dynamics of population recovery.
