Abstract:

This dataset contains oil and DOSS concentrations measured from four deep-sea coral samples and 20 deep-sea sediment samples collected in December 2010. It also contains oil and DOSS concentrations as well as select biomarker ratios for 16 oil soaked sand patties collected from Gulf coast beaches between 2012 and 2014.

Purpose:

This dataset was developed to determine the long-term persistence of DOSS in the deep-sea and coastal environment.

Data Parameters and Units:

Concentrations for DOSS and oil are provided as quantities per dry weight of sample.

Methods:

NM = not measured BD = below detection

Instruments:

DOSS quantities were determined by LC-MS. Oil quantities were measured by GC-FID. Biomarker ratios were determined by GC-MS operated in SIM mode.
