Abstract:

Raw data of cavitation pressure for various molecular weight poly(propylene oxide) organogels in a variety of solvents. This dataset includes molecular weights, weight percentages, and modulus.

Purpose:

To determine materials that are able to gel hydrophobic compounds such as oil and volatile organic solvents.

Data Parameters and Units:

(1) D-XXXX denote the molecular weights of the polymer Jeffamines used in these organogelators. These are all commercially available from Huntsman Chemicals as end-functional amine poly(propylene oxide) polymers. The M-series denotes monofunctional, D denotes di and T denotes trifunctional. In this case, we use the D-series polymers. The number after “D” indicates the molecular weight of the polymer (in g/mol). So D-2000 indicates difunctional PPO of molecular weight 2000 g/mol. D-4000 and D-400 are 4000 g/mol and 400 g/mol diamine PPO, respectively. (2) SEW-II-16 denotes the specific laboratory notebook page that refers to this experiment. SEW are the initials of the investigator (Susan E. Walley; Kyle C. Bentz = KCB, etc.) The Roman numerals indicate the notebook volume, and the number denotes the page.
