Abstract:

The upper-ocean transport of oil plumes from deep-water blowouts is studied using large-eddy simulation (LES). This dataset consists of results from twelve LES runs with different imposed angles between the swell wave and wind stress, as well as one pure shear turbulence case without swell wave. For each case, three monodisperse oil droplet sizes are considered. Based on the dataset, the dependence of oil transport on the swell-wind angle and the oil droplets size are studied.
