Model output generated by the particle tracking model using flow fields from the NGOMNFS model as described in Jones, B., Gyory, J., E. K. Grey, M. Bartlein, R. Nero, D.S. Ko, C.M. Taylor. 2015. Transport of blue crab larvae in the Northern Gulf of Mexico during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Marine Ecology Progress Series 527: 143-156 doi: 10.3354/meps11238. The model simulates the movements of 48 million particles (representing blue crab larvae) in a region of the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.

Purpose:

To estimate population connectivity of blue crabs in the Gulf of Mexico and to assess potential exposure of larval blue crabs to surface oil slicks

start_date particle release date (MM/DD/YYYY) start_lat starting latitude of particle (decimal degrees) start_lon starting longitude of particle (decimal degrees) settlement_age time in transit before particle settles (in hours). Particles with a settlement age of 0 did not successfully settle. end_lat ending latitude of particle (decimal degrees) end_lon ending longitude of particle (decimal degrees)
