Abstract:

Oil exposures were performed on larval blue crabs at LUMCON in Cocodrie, Louisiana in 2014. Juvenile experiments were performed in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2015. Crabs were exposed to oil (500 ppb Macondo 252 surrogate Louisiana Sweet Crude oil) or control (no oil) for 24 hrs. Crabs were cultured for two consecutive molts. This dataset contains larval blue crab weight and length measurements. It also contains juvenile blue crab length and weight measurements along with molted carapace length, weight, and hardness measurements.

Purpose:

Data were collected through laboratory experiments to determine the effects of oil exposure on blue crabs.
