Abstract:

Data Set for the article "Comparison of the Effectiveness of Solid and Solubilized Dioctyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate (DOSS) on Oil Dispersion Using the Baffled Flak Test, for Crude Oil Spill Application . Dispersant DOSS-Paraffin wax composite particles are synthesized by the spray freezing method and their effectiveness in dispersing crude oil was compared with that of solubilized DOSS. The dispersion effectiveness was examined with the baffled flask test. Purpose:

The objective in this work is to formulate particulate dispersant composite particle for oil spill remediation. Since dispersants are soluble in water, encapsulating the surfactant in water insoluble shell or matrix may help reduce their solubility. This may result in reduced toxicity and cost, and enhanced dispersion effectiveness.
