Abstract:

Water quality data from YSI datasondes was collected in subtidal waters in Terrebonne Bay adjacent to a concurrent study utilizing Wormcams. Wormcam data and images are available through GRIIDC Unique Dataset Identifiers (UDIs) R1.x139.143:0002 and R1.x139.144:0007, respectively.

Purpose:

The intent of this data was to serve as a time-series account of the physical water quality parameters at the sites where benthic observations were being made at subtidal sites in Terrebonne Bay, LA.

Data Parameters and Units:

Worksheet “Wormcam 6_Oiled site” and “Wormcam 4_Clean site” have the same data parameters: Parameter Descriptions: Timestamp (Date/Time of reading, MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM); Record # (Sequential number assigned to each data record, starting with zero); Batt_Volt_Avg – volts (Battery voltage for the data logger that is transmitting the sonde data); PTemp_C_Avg - deg C (Processor board temperature for the data logger that is transmitting the sonde data); Water temp - deg C (ambient water temperature); Specific Conductivity (uS/cm); Salinity (ppt); Pressure (psi); Depth (m); pH – unitless; pH (mV); ODO % sat (Optical dissolved oxygen, % saturation); ODO mg/L; (Optical dissolved oxygen, mg/L); Battery – volts (Battery voltage for the sonde) Site locations: TB1: 29.293060,-90.605000 (Clean site) TB3: 29.304440,-90.565830 (Oiled site)

Methods:

YSI datasondes were affixed to the Wormcam frames and deployed with the Wormcam system. Every 3-4 weeks the systems were retrieved and datasondes replaced for maintenance and data collection.
