Abstract:

The dataset includes fish lengths for the collected and identified in the R1.x139.144:0002 dataset on fish composition and abundance. Individual tabs in the excel document include the total lengths of one species. These samples were collected between the summer of 2012 and the fall of 2013 at various sites (coordinate points includes) and within those sites at different marsh subhabitats (marsh edge, pond, creek, surface depression). Purpose:

An evaluation of the marsh fish responses to the Macondo Oil Spill was conducted in the spring and early summer of 2012 and 2013 and fall of 2013 by sampling in both oiled and unoiled marshes using traps. Length frequency distributions were evaluated to determine if there effect to oil exposure on fish growth.

Data Parameters and Units:

Data includes the marsh sites in which traps were deployed and the subhabitats within those marshes, and the total length (in millimeters) of each specimen collected for the following species: Adinia xenica, Cyprinidon variegatus, Poecilla latipinna, and all species of Fundulus spp. These species represent over 95% of the fish collected.
