Abstract:

This dataset reports delta 14C and delta 13C from plankton samples collected between June 2010 and May 2011 in the Gulf of Mexico. Samples were collected using a horizontal plankton tow net, 300 micron net towed for 10-15 minutes. This dataset also includes data funded under FIO Y1.x029.000:0005.

Purpose:

To assess the influence of oil and gas on water column and sediment biogeochemical processes and the distribution of substances that affect biological productivity.

Date (DD- MMM-YY) · Type : type of sample analyzed where “mixed” means a combined fraction, “600um” means the 600 micrometer fraction, “125 um” means the 125 micrometer fraction. · Latitude = latitude in decimal degrees · Longitude = longitude in decimal degrees · delta14C = ratio of 14C to 13C · delta 13C = ratio of 13C to 12C
