Purpose:

To determine the effect of seasonal currents, topography, and episodic oceanographic or atmospheric drivers on the transport of oil, hydrocarbon gases, sediments, and organisms from a source to sea floor and pelagic environments in the Gulf of Mexico.

Data Parameters and Units:

eastward velocity (m/s), northward velocity (m/s), upward velocity (m/s); Site A = 29.8582N, 84.5247W, 5 m depth; Site B = 29.7947N, 84.4723W, 10 m depth; Site S = 29.4672N, 83.9684W, 19 m depth

Methods:

All instruments were deployed on the sea floor. All instruments were bottom mounted, upward-lookng Nortek 1-MHz acoustic wave and current (AWAC) profilers.
