Abstract:

The 2013 SailBuoy dataset includes seawater parameters, such as temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen collected using a wind-powered sailing buoy in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico.

Purpose:

To determine the effect of seasonal currents, topography, and episodic oceanographic or atmospheric drivers on the transport of oil, hydrocarbon gases, sediments, and organisms from a source to sea floor and pelagic environments in the Gulf of Mexico.

Data Parameters and Units:

Sea temperature, conductivity, salinity, oxygen concentration were measured using a G-CTD sensor and AS4835 optode manufactured by Aanderaa Data Instruments, Xylem Inc. SB02-ArgoKnot_MissionData.xlsx-- Time GMT (M/D/YYYY hh:mm), Latitude (decimal degrees), Longitude (decimal degrees), TxTries (Counts), U (Volts), Electronics Temperature (deg C), CT Temperature (deg C), CT Conductivity (mmhos/cm), Oxygen Concentration (mu M), Oxygen Saturation (%), Oxygen Temperature (deg C). CTLOG.xlsm-- Temperature (deg C), Conductivity (mmhos/cm), Salinity (PSU), Time GMT (M/D/YYYY hh:mm:ss:msec).
