Abstract:

This dataset contains 146 jpeg images of multicores collected during R/V Weatherbird II cruise 1305 from September 22nd to 29th 2012. Additionally, this includes a file of raw sort data for macrofauna to the family level.

Purpose:

To characterize sea floor geomorphology, bathymetry, sediment, and primary benthic habitats specific to the Gulf of Mexico with an emphasis on topographical features that influence deep sea to shelf connectivity.

Data Parameters and Units:

jpeg images: images of the multicore samples at 16 sites; the images are of the sediment sample through the clear barrel with a measuring tape and the barrel number (eight samples at each site). Excel file 2012 Cruise Baco Lab Sort Data as of Dec 1 2013.xslx - macrofaunal counts by family. multicore_manifest.csv - site name, latitude (decimal degrees), longitude (decimal degrees)
