Abstract:

This dataset contains high-speed image data obtained in the Offshore Technology Research Center (OTRC) wave basin at Texas A&M University using a stereoscopic camera system. Two gas flow rates were used to generate low void fraction air bubble plumes in stagnant water conditions. The bubble images were acquired at five elevations. They are bottom, 3m, 7m, 12m and 16m. An Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter was also used to acquire water velocity in the center of the bubble plume at all elevations.

Purpose:

To examine the rise of bubbles under various flow rate conditions in a laboratory setting.

Data Parameters and Units:

Images are organized by depth above the bottom (0m, 3m, 7m, 12m and 16m) for high and low flow rates (see excel spreadsheet) at various frame rates (24-400 fps). ADV current speeds (cm/s) are in a separate folder.

Instruments:

Camera images from a pair of high-speed high-resolution synced (master-slave) TAMU camera system. Currents are measured using a Nortec Vectrino Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter.
