Abstract:

This dataset contains high-speed images of bubble plumes taken in the Offshore Technology Research Center (OTRC) wave basin at Texas A&M University using a stereoscopic camera system. The experiment was conducted with three different orifice diameters and various flow rates. Two additional cases with added salt water were also conducted for orifice diameter = 8cm.

Purpose:

To examine the rise of bubbles issuing from various sized orifices and under various flow rates simulating a blowout event.

Data Parameters and Units:

This dataset consists of stereoscopic pairs (master and slave) of tif images. They are organized by orifice size (3, 5, and 8 cm) and flow rates (500, 1100, 1200, and 1700 standard cubic feet per minute [SCFM]). Image sequences are separated by about 0.27 seconds, times are recorded in the accompanying excel spreadsheets. date (MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS), time (s), notes
