Abstract:

The data contains 2 dimensional 3 component velocity information within a solid agarose particle obtained from Stereoscopic Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Data corresponds to cylinderical particles with varying lengths and diameters.

Purpose:

Study the two-way coupling effect of solid particles in turbulence.

Data Parameters and Units:

LKC_Particle_Large_volm: Data corresponds to cylinderical particle with length 20mm and diameter 20 mm (approx.) LKC_Particle_Medium_volm: Data corresponds to cylinderical particle with length 8 mm and diameter 8 mm (approx.) LKC_Particle_Small_volm: Data corresponds to cylinderical particle with length 5 mm and diameter 5 mm (approx.)The measured velocities are in m/s. Time information indicated in file name B(elapsed time in seconds). The time separation between two consecutive files for the same particle ID is 0.0714 s. Each primary folder contains multiple subfolders with names in the following format: [INITIAL]_[PHASE]_[DATE]_[ASPECT RATIO]_[PARTICLE TYPE]_[PARTICLE VOLUME]_[selectedfiles1] INITIAL: Collector initial PHASE: ParticleData or FluidData DATE: Acquisition date ASPECT RATIO: Particle length/diameter PARTICLE TYPE: Large/medium/small/long PARTICLE VOLUME: Total range of particle volume added to the tank selectedfiles1: Particle files are selected from a huge pool of data Data is written in DAT files within each subfolder. Each file contains velocity of particle intersected by a laser sheet. Column 1: x [mm] Column 2: y [mm] Column 3: z [mm] Column 4: u [m/s] Column 5: v [m/s] Column 6: w [m/s] Grid size: Large: 84x40, Medium: 85x40, Small: 170x79 There is a ods and a text file corresponding to each subfolder. - Column 1 in the ods file: particle ID. - Column 2 in the ods file: corresponding DAT file number The TXT file contains the DAT files used for some analysis.
