Abstract:

Image sequences from laboratory experiments were made using single camera images, particle image velocimetry, and planar laser-induced fluorescence techniques to determine the behavior of a rising bubble plume under various ambient conditions.

Purpose:

The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the behavior of a rising bubble plume under various ambient conditions to yield a better understanding of the near field behavior of the DeepWater Horizon plume comprised of a mixture of oil and gas.

Data Parameters and Units:

Image sequences of bubbles rising in a tank under various conditions (bmp file format). Grids are supplied so that subsequent researchers can compute bubble velocity vectors.
